Earlier, the Indian Space Research Organisation ISRO had launched the SRE-1 by Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C7) on January 10 along with Cartosat-2 from Sriharikota. The SRE-1, 550 kg of weight, was designed to test the re-entry vehicle technology that was necessary to plan any manned space mission for what India has planned to materialize.
Later, the Space Capsule Recovery Equipment SRE-1 had returned to earth after orbiting for 11 days in space. That was a great success for the plan to advance a manned mission in space. However, a recent report has revealed that India has shelved its much-debated India’s manned mission to the Moon.
According to some unconfirmed report, the practical concerns and high cost of the project have come out as the reason behind the rethink about the manned mission to moon. The ISRO has unconditionally restated that there is no plan to send any manned mission to the Moon.

G Madhvan Nair, ISRO Chairman, said:
There is no plan to send man to the Moon at present.
However, a space craft would be launched in September to study and collect data in the space around the Moon.
The report says that the high cost of manned mission to moon might jeopardize other ongoing ISRO projects.
It would take more preliminary checks that may take much time and resources. At the same time ISRO said that these kind of projects rank high on symbolism and emotions for every Indians.
