Western countries are choosing India as their favorite destination for outsourcing work. On the other hand, India’s SAARC neighbors, Pakistan and Bangladesh have asked India that India should outsource work to its neighboring countries.
During the second SAARC Business Leaders’ Conclave in Mumbai, the representatives of Pakistan and Bangladesh have given a proposal to India that India could outsource work to Pakistan and Bangladesh to avail competitive rates.
During the session on outsourcing, Media Star Bangladesh chairman Latifur Rahman said that inter-SAARC outsourcing was negligible and it has scope to develop.
However, the Indian delegation did not respond to the proposal. Kaushik Basu from Cornell University who is an expert on outsourcing said in the conclave that outsourcing should be where it is most competitive.
Basu said on the rapid development of outsourcing that the recent US Presidential elections actually resulted in promoting the cause of outsourcing. There was much criticism about it on television in the country.
According to a report, 50 per cent of global outsourcing work comes to India. Further, India has been experiencing a growth of 50 per cent per year in the field. Now, the neighboring countries want to exploit the opportunities in this field from India.
