After wining the assembly election in Himachal Pradesh and the charismatic victory in Gujarat, Lal Krishna Advani, who has been declared as prime ministerial candidate from Bhartiya Janta Party, has said that the year 2008 will be a parivartan varsh (year of change) and the party would get back into power in center.

While addressing media persons, Advani said that Punjab, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and now Himachal, this is the clear indication of the ‘parivartan’ (change). He said:

The resounding victory of the BJP in the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat a few days ago shows that 2007 is ending with an unmistakable statement about the coming change in the political equation in the country.

He further congratulated the people of Himachal Pradesh for giving BJP another chance to rule the state under the leadership of Prem Kumar Dhumal. He was overjoyed when pointing it out that the BJP’s vote share was the highest ever in the state in this assembly election.

According to him, in Gujarat, the party won in Gujarat because of strong pro-incumbency votes and in Himachal, anti-incumbency factor worked in favor of party. It clearly means people have showed their immense belief in BJP, and in both the states people voted against the Congress rule.

Advani said that six assembly elections held in 2007 and the BJP registered victories in four states, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh and the Congress won in only one state. According to him, the party is going to win the assembly election in Karnataka likely to be held early next year.

He also said that despite being emerged as single largest party in 2004 General Election, the party became a victim of political opportunism. ‘The UPA government has been failed on all fronts and the common people are eagerly looking for liberation from this non-performing government,’ he added.
