On Wednesday morning, the Mumbaikars were looking very excited to welcome Indian cricket team from South Africa with the winning trophy. At the same time, the Mumbai Police recovered six unexploded bombs from the Andheri suburb station.
The Mumbai Police was on high alert when the crowd thronged on street to greet Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s destroyers who won the inaugural Twenty20 World Championship at South Africa.
The bomb panic came at the same time when lakhs of people were lined up on the streets in pouring rain. A crime branch officer told TOI said that the bombs were live and country-made... but not of high intensity. He said further that the police have also arrested one person in connection with this recovery of the bombs from outside of Andheri suburb station.
The police, however, did not directly link the bombs to the welcome celebrations of the team India, but the city was on high alert on Wednesday.
The police have done great security arrangements for the players, who traveled from the Sahar airport to Wankhede Stadium in an open-top bus. The traffic police have already given the details of routes of the bus during the period to maintain traffic in the city.
The BCCI had organized a felicitation ceremony for team India at the Wankhede Stadium that was also jam-packed with lakhs of cricket fans.
