Poor payment forcing nuclear scientists to leave govt jobs

The Nuclear scientists are opting to join private sector instead of giving their services in the government-owned nuclear facilities. The UPA government has expressed their concerns over the rising rate of attrition among Indian nuclear scientists.

According to the report, the Indian nuclear scientists have been increasingly leaving the government sector and started switching over to nuclear energy multinationals in the private sector.

The Minister of State in the PMO Prithviraj Chauhan said in Rajya Sabha while answering in this matter that the rising trends among Indian nuclear scientists for opting jobs in private sector. He accepted that this was a matter of serious concern.

He answered that this has been an open secret for some time that Indian nuclear scientists were facing poor pay structure and working conditions. Indian scientists from the atomic energy sector were living in a global nuclear denial situation.

He also said that the Department of Atomic Energy has also reported the concerns regarding the poor pay structure and poor working condition before the Sixth Pay Commission. The DAE has also asked for higher salaries for these scientists to provide them better job security.
