
At least 22 Indian Army soldiers have been injured in a powerful roadside bomb blast in Srinagar. The incident happened on early hours of Friday. According to the police, the separatist guerrillas had planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to kill the soldiers.
The explosives were planed near the Presentation Convent High School that is located in Srinagar’s posh locality, Rajbagh. The IEDs exploded right at the time when the Army convoy was passing through the road near to school.
A senior officer said that a small Army convoy, carrying soldiers, was moving through the road near to school was damaged because of the powerful explosion. After the explosion, 22 soldiers found injured and they were rushed to the Army base hospital in the capital’s Badami Bagh Cantonment area for treatment.
After the blast the Army immediately reached to place of explosion and took control of the area. The army officers searched the area to find other explosives in the area. Later, the traffic was restored on the road and the paramilitary forces and road opening parties (ROP) guarded the traffic on the road.
