On Monday, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal flagged off the first truck from India to Pakistan and launched the historic truck service between both countries. According to the report, Narain Eximp Corporation Import Export Trading has sent the first truck to Pakistan that was loaded with 600 boxes of tomatoes worth of Rs two lakhs.
It has happened for the first time that India and Pakistan have given permission for cross border movement of trucks via international Attari check post just to boost the trade between both the countries.
To mark the historic occasion at the Attari check post, the dancers from Punjab performed traditional Punjabi dance ‘Bhangra’ when Punjab CM flagged off the first truck to Pakistan. Just before the flag-off ceremony, Punjab CM Badal went to the zero line at the Attari Check post. Hr shook hands with the Pakistani soldiers and congratulated them.
At the same time, when the Punjab CM went the zero line to mark the historic occasion, no senior leader or any politician from Pakistan was present from Pakistani side to give due recognition to the historical truck service.
When, media persons asked Badal on the unenthusiastic response from Pakistan, he said that the service had just begun. Pakistan would progressively show good response to the bilateral trade.
