Rashtriya Ispat Nigam to distribute steel bullock carts to promote steel consumption in Rural India

The government of India is trying hard to increase the consumption of steel in the different parts of Country. The government is concentrating on the rural areas where there is a great scope to increase the consumption. For that purpose, the steel ministry has decided to distribute steel made bullock carts to villagers. The people from weaker sections will be benefited first from this scheme.

The report says that as many as 70 steel bullock carts has been made by Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), Visakhapattanam. The government has decided to distribute the steel made carts to the villagers living in the surrounding area of RINL. These bullock carts will be proved as stronger and longer lasting than the old ones.

The steel ministry official said that the project has started on a trial basis. If the experiment would succeed the government would decided to go in for large-scale production with the help of any public sector undertaking.

Moreover, the steel ministry has also launched many schemes through SAIL and RINL for encouraging the consumption of steel in the country. The ministry has also decided to adopt some villages as model villages for that purpose.

The union minister Ram Vilas Paswan had earlier given order to SAIL for ensuring to secure one steel dealer in every district across the country. The ministry of steel has taken this decision to make steel available everywhere in the country. Currently, villagers travel 100-200 km to buy steel.
