Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is planning to take over 2.5$ billion British energy services company Wood Group (John) plc.
The Wood Group is an international energy services company, which provides oil, and gas services in more than 30 countries worldwide.
The talks are going on with the company’s exploration and production plans.
There are some reports that RIL was looking to hold talks with two to three more companies for the same purpose.

On the other hand, Ratan Tata’s steel company offered $7.6 billion for London-based Corus Group Plc, the largest takeover attempt by an Indian company.
If all goes well, Tata Steel Ltd would become the sixth-largest steelmaker from 56th. The Corus group is seven times bigger than Tata Steel. Corus Group’s revenue in 2005 was $18.4 billion compared with Tata Steel’s $4.57 billion last year.
Earlier, Tata Steel purchased Singapore’s Natsteel Ltd. in August 2004 for 13 billion rupees ($287 million). In December 2005, it bought Thailand’s Millennium Steel Pcl for 18.18 billion rupees.
