Indian people love their centuries old tradition and they can go to any extent to save the traditions. In such practice in a village in Haryana, a family killed a newly wedded couple because their wedding was not according to the caste traditions.
Now, the village has claimed credit for the killing of the couple and they termed the incident as an “honour killing”. According to the report, three relatives killed the couple for marrying within the same gotra.
The report said that the police had recovered the bodies of the slain couple on June 23 and later arrested the three relatives of the couple.
On this horrible killing, most of the villagers in Kaithal district are happy. They have even prepared to felicitate the trio killers for saving the honour of the tradition that does not allow marriage in same gotra.
The message is clear that the respect for the tradition is much more important than the lives of people.
Earlier, two residents of the village, Babli and Manoj, had decided to marry despite of their family protest. Their family members were not in favor of their marriage because they belong to same gotra.
Later, the couple married in the court against the wishes of their families. In reaction, the “caste panchayat” of Karoran Padran Patti village issued the order against Babli and Manoj.
When their own relatives caught them, they were reportedly forced to drink pesticide. Later, they were thrown alive into the Hansi Butana canal with their hands and legs bounded.
On June 23, the bodies came to the surface in the canal and the Karnal police arrested Suresh, an elder brother of Babli, and two other relatives her uncle Rajinder and cousin Gurdev. The villagers as well as the relatives, who did the act, were visibly happy on their heinous act.
