The Supreme Court has given a relief to Sanjay Dutt by granting him an interim bail on Monday. On July 31, the TADA Court had sentenced him six years’ of rigorous imprisonment under the Arms Act in the connection with 93 Mumbai serial blast case. At Present, Dutt is serving the sentence in Yerawada jail in Pune.
On Monday, the three-judge bench headed by the chief justice KG Balakrishnan stated that the nature of the offence and the evidence was extremely difficult to examine at this stage as Dutt has received no copy of the judgment.
According to the report, Yerawada jail authority would release Dutt after receiving the bail order given by the Supreme Court. Technically, the bail is valid only till the day the special TADA court provides a copy of its judgment to Dutt.
However, his passport would remain with the trial court. According to the apex court order, Dutt cannot leave the country without permission.
A Mumbai court official said that the trial court would start delivering copies of the conviction and sentencing of the 100 convicted from September. Dutt was among the last of the 100 to be sentenced so, it would take time for him to get the final copy of the judgment.
