
On Saturday, a mentally disturbed security guard suddenly opened fire on some people on a group of people at an oil field in southeastern part in Yemen and killed an Indian engineer. In this incident five other people were also injured. According to the report, among the injured people two were Britons, one was an American, a Tunisian and a Yemeni.
The incident happened at the Jannah oil field in Shabwa province that is located at 470 km southeast of capital Sana’a. The security personnel, armed with a rifle, suddenly opened fire at a group of men when the group stepped out of a helicopter.
The US oil firm, Occidental Petroleum Company, owned the helicopter and the helicopter had landed at the airport inside the oil field. After the landing, when the group of men came out of the helicopter, the security man opened fire on them. The report said that all the injured men were in critical condition and being treated in capital’s hospital.
Later, the other security guards shot the attacker in his legs and arrested him. The police have said that there was some personal motive of the security man behind the firing incident. After the primary investigation, police said that the attacker, Jameel Mohammad al-Raye, was psychologically disturbed. The company did yet not disclose the names of killed engineer and injured people.
