More and more girl children are being killed at or before birth in India. This is a big shame for Indian society. People still do not want girl child in their families.
According to a fresh statistics, Sex-ratio has been declined in 80% of India’s districts since 1991. This is happening on the time when India is knocking the door of the super power’s club to get the same status.
The situation is the worst in Punjab. Here the sex-ratio was 875 girls per 1000 boys in 1991. Now the 1991, it has been gone down to 798 girls per 1000 boys in 2001.
UNICEF will release the detail of the data ‘State of the World’s Children’ shortly.
Haryana is not far behind from Punjab in the list. It was 879 girls in 1991 and now 819 in 2001.
Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal are next in the list.
The most important point of the data is that all the five state’s economic conditions are good and people live here with good life status.
Arunachal Pradesh’s sex ratio is 964 now; earlier in 1991 it was 982. Delhi also showed a 47-point decline from 915 girls to 868.
Kerala is the only state where the sex ratio has increased with 2 points from 958 girls in 1991 to 960 in 2001.
It all shows that the government’s effort to implement the laws against feticide have been failed everywhere. The all-India average is 927 girls for 1000 boys and puts India at the bottom in the list globally.
