
The Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested Shahzad Khan, a militant commander who was reportedly a Captain in Pakistan Army and served Pakistan in Kargil war. This arrest is first of its kind in the 18 years of militancy in the state. The police have detained Khan in a secret location in Kashmir.
However, the top police officials have denied of any such detention of former Pakistan army officer-turned-militant to the media.
According to the Indian Express, the sources have made it confirm that the J&K police have arrested the former Pak Army officer from Batapora locality. They are now going through unrelenting interrogation on him in police custody.
The report says that Khan was actively involved in the fight during the Kargil war in 1999 from Pakistani Army where he was serving as a Second Lieutenant. The report says further that Khan has some links with a very influential, political family belongs to the Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
Further, the IE has reported that he has disclosed to have links with Lt-General Mohammad Aziz, who is a trusted hand of General Pervez Musharraf. Musharraf was actively involved in the Kargil war as the then Chief of General Staff in Pakistan army.
At the same time, the authenticity of these claims has not been confirmed yet by any news agency or source. This is being said that Khan was involved in the operation of a militant group in Kashmir since 2001. He was active in frontier areas such as Kupwara, Baramulla and Bandipore districts since then.
