Stampede in Jagannath Temple causes 4 deaths

In a depressing incident, 3 person killed and more than 20 person became injured because of stampede broke out in the Jagannath temple in Puri, Orissa. The stampede occurred when a huge crowd tried to enter the shrine on Saturday morning at 7:30 am.

It was the occasion of ‘Badaosha’ festival in the month of Kartik The devotees were waiting near the ‘Jhulana mandap’ inside the shrine waiting for an inner door to open.

As the door opened, hundreds of devotees quickly rushed in the temple campus and that resulted in the stampede. The devotees blamed the temple authority for the stampede.

They delayed in opening the gate and the crowd gathered on the gate. The accident occurred when the ‘Mangala arati’ ritual was being conducted.

The Sunday is the second to last day of ‘Panchuka’, a five-day period when Hindus avoid non-vegetarian food.

The Times of India has reported that the number of death has been reached to 4 and more that 30 people have been injured in the incident.

With due respect I wish to extend my concern for the last episode at the temple during KARTIK PURNIMA.

Can we envisage to set up a security/ safety course/cirricula for the Daitapatis/ Sebayats, as this class stands for the service of the LORD.
A modified full fledged sucurity degree (as in case fire safety/ BSF etc) may be, with emphasis on temple / chores and exacting the needs of the administration during such time. The same may be affiliated one of the Universities. There after the successfull candidates are ready for appointment in the premises for all such security/ safety measures inside the temple.

This may seem to be wild but serve many needs of the Sebayats and bring pride to serve the LORD. Further a specialisation study for the custom designed job may be better than training a handful of police/ officials.
