Subscribers welcome BSNL's '2 numbers in Single SIM' scheme in UP

BSNL has launched a whole array of new features for its customers to give solid competition to other private sector telecom companies and the scheme of twin number on a single SIM was a part of the whole range of features. The BSNL officials have claimed that the scheme of ‘twin number on a single SIM’ that was launched in Uttar Pradesh (East) has become a huge success for the public sector telecom company.

The scheme of twin numbers in a single SIM was first feature of its kind in India and people has welcomed new feature of BSNL. General Manager, BSNL, Satish Kumar, said that the BSNL has decided to expand the new scheme to other parts in Uttar Pradesh in coming days. Deputy Director General of BSNL (Corporate) Anil Jain said that the BSNl has launched the feature in Lucknow. It will be launched all over the country soon.

Earlier, the BSNL officials had visualized the idea of ‘twin number, single SIM’ project when the government employees, particularly policemen, told BSNL that they have to make calls to other network. According to rules, Indian Police Service officers and state Police Service officers receive a BSNL Common User Group (CUG) at the time of joining the force.

In this system, they can make unlimited calls to other CUG numbers but they face problems while making calls to other network numbers. Because of this problem, the police officers were forced to carry two mobile phones with them. Now, they welcomed the new feature of two numbers on a single SIM scheme in BSNL. According to the BSNL data, 700 plus subscribers have accessed this new service in the UP (East) circle.

Satish Kumar further that the customers have the option to select any combination of numbers, either postpaid or postpaid, at the same time. They can also select one prepaid and post paid connection in a single SIM. As both numbers are configured on a single card, the customers will have to divert one mobile number to the other one.

Recently, the BSNL has become the first telecom company in India to provide ‘TV in mobile’ service in India. According to the report, the ‘TV in mobile handset’ service would help the BSNL GSM service customers to watch at least 12 channels including NDTV, CNBC, Aajtak, Times Now, Zoom, Bindaas, ETV and TV9 on their compatible mobile handsets.
