In the midst of some speculations of mid-term poll, political leaders in BJP have started discussing that who will be the next Prime Ministerial candidate from Party. This is a height of optimism because at one hand, the BJP is losing the old allies from NDA and on the other hand the party is eying on PM’s post.

The parties such as AIADMK and TDP, old allies in NDA, have been formed a third front. They are in a mood to contest next general election by their own without making any pre-poll alliance with either Congress or BJP.

According to a report, a senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, during an interview with a news channel, said that the Leader of Opposition L K Advani is not the natural choice for the post of Prime Minister from BJP. He said that party’s top brass leaders would decide the nominee as the prime ministerial candidate from party after consultation with Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Yashwant Sinha said that BJP has a tradition to have collective decisions by collective leadership. He said:

The party members do take decisions in a collective manner. BJP is neither a one-book party nor a one-leader party. You should understand the style of functioning of our party.

Sinha said during the interview that India would not follow the British tradition of shadow PM and even Advani ji has accepted it. He just refused to accept that the party president should be the candidate for the PM’s post. He said that the party has many deserving leaders who could get the honor to accept the top job in the government.

Prakash Javadekar said:

Atalji is our tallest leader. Advaniji is also our leader. Rajnath Singh is our party president. That is why Atalji and Advaniji would jointly take any decision on this issue.

He said that after the announcement of schedule for Lok Sabha elections, Vajpayee ji would make the announcement about the party’s nominee for the top job in the government.

According to Sinha, Vajpayee is the NDA chairperson, Advani is Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Jaswant Singh is Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Rajnath Singh is Party President. There are so many leaders in party. Party’s tallest leader Atalji will decide the matter of the nominee for the top job in government later.

This is nothing but a wonderful example of optimism in politics that the party, which was in power for a full term under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is busy holding a discussion on the probable candidate for PM’s post even the party is not looking so strong to build a strong NDA.
