Who is India’s top most tax-payer, Hrithik Roshan or Amiatbh Bachchan? The answer of this question has become controversial now. According to a newspaper report, Hrithik Roshan was the highest tax payer with Rs 15.10 crore for 2006-2007 and Shah Rukh Khan ranks at the second place as he paid Rs 14 crore tax in the same time period.

Now, Amitabh Bachchan has claimed that the newspaper has given the false report. He said that he is the top most tax-payer in the country as he paid Rs 15.59 crore in the same year.

Bachchan said:

I’m surprised by the report saying that Hrithik is the top most tax-payer in the country. I have serious doubts on the report’s authenticity because my name is not mentioned anywhere among the top most taxpayers of the entertainment business.

This gives the completely false impression that I take big bucks and don’t pay up enough taxes.

Big B later clarified that he ranks at the top in the list of the tax-payers of the country. He said:

If you look at the figures for the year 2006-2007, you’ll see Amitabh Bachchan has paid Rs 14.15 crore. Moreover, AB Corp Ltd. where all the earnings are mine has paid Rs.1.44 crore in the same year.

He further said that Junior B Abhishek Bachchan has paid Rs 4.75 crore and Aishwarya Rai paid Rs 5 crore as tax money. Moreover, the Bachchan family’s total tax would go beyond the Rs 25 crore mark on Rs Rs 25.3 crore because of Aishwarya’s addition in the family.
