On Saturday, the Dhaka police arrested a key accused in the Hyderabad twin blasts occurred on August 25. The Indian government had mounted pressure on Bangladesh to take necessary action against Islamist terror groups operating from the country.
The Police team arrested Abu Hamza alias Asif from a lodge in Dhaka. He has reportedly some links with Abdul Shahid alias Bilal, the commander of Bangladesh-based Harkat-ul-Jehad-al-Islami (HuJI). Hamza is also an accused in the Mecca Masjid blast that had happened in Hyderabad in May.
Hamza, 32, belongs to Hyderabad but he had left India in 2004. According to the Andhra police theory, Hamza has been helping Bilal for the execution of various terror attacks. He helped Bilal for recruiting people for HuJI in Hyderabad.
According to the report, Hamza has regularly come to India from Bangladesh to meet Bilal and Mazid. The Hyderabad police arrested Bilal and his brother Mazid late on Saturday night.
However, Police have rejected the reports of Mazid’s arresting but some reports have revealed that police detained Mazid for questioning about his role in the twin blasts and the Mecca Masjid explosion in Hyderabad. The Hyderabad Police came to know Hamza’s involvement in the twin blasts during the police interrogation of Abdul Sattar, a defector HuJI militant who were in jail at present.
