The previous Samajwadi party government has chanted the slogan to make Uttar Pradesh as Uttam Pradesh. The SP general secretary Amar Singh had led the group of investors in state and they took various contracts in the state to develop several projects in the state. Now, the government has been changed and the signals for the political stability has been sent to people and investors, who want to invest capital in Uttar Pradesh.
On very first day of the BSP government, the indication of the changed industrial development came with knocking by Essar group. Essar, the main business rival of Anil Ambani group, has showed its interest to invest in power sector in UP. Its arrival in Lucknow, on the same day when Mayawati took oath as CM, has surprised many eyes in Uttar Pradesh.
Essar’s president, business development, Mukesh tyagi said that he has come to UP only to explore possibilities of investment in the power sector in the state. He accepted that the changed political environment has forced him to come to UP. The state has great potential and needs better investment policies by the government. Mayawati has got clear mandate and the stable nature of this government may lead to a lot of development in the state.
Further, several other Industrial houses, business groups are likely to arrive and want to discuss about the possibility to invest in the state. According to them, UP is in desperate need of infrastructure development with the participation from various leading business groups. Thermal powers stations, steel plants, roads, over bridges, telecoms will open to a host of new business houses, that had been the domain of one or two corporate houses in the state.
Now, if the new group of investors would get greater support from the new government, it will be good news for the people of the state. It will be interesting to see, how Mayawati handles the great opportunities that are coming from the big corporate houses to make Uttar Pradesh a real ‘Uttam Pradesh’
