
Indian multinational companies are busy taking over the companies abroad and making ‘Brand India’ a powerful name at global platform. According to the report, Indian company United Spirits has bought the Scottish liquor maker Whyte and Mackay for more than US$1 billion. The deal happened on Wednesday and accentuated India’s growing economic superiority globally.
Vijay Mallya, chairman of United Spirits owner UB Group is the happy man as the take over deal has marked a major achievement for his group. Mallya was eyeing to enter into the European spirits market and the deal has paved he way for him when he taken the control of Whyte and Mackay. Whyte and Mackay is a 163-year-old scotch whisky maker that is based in Glasgow.

Mallya said:
India has great market potential for premium Scotch whisky.
After this deal, United spirits have a strong portfolio of internationally recognised brands that we will immediately introduce into the Indian market.
We are now going to use the strong distribution network fully to our advantages.
The UB group’s brand would get the brands such as W and M scotch whisky, Jura single-malt whisky and Viadivar Vodka in its group of brands such as Bagpiper, McDowell’s No. 1, and McDowell’s Celebration rum.
This was the best-ever purchase deal by Mallya’s Bangalore-based UB Group in last 24 years. The UB group has become the world’s third-largest brewer now and acquires 60% of Indian market.
